CARWIZ rent a car expands to the northernmost island country in Europe!
CARWIZ International is launching its operations in Iceland, the northernmost island country in Europe, in the capital city of Reykjavik. This will serve as a strategic hub for the entire country—an island nation in the North Atlantic, situated between Greenland, Norway, and the British Isles—where tourism is one of the strongest economic sectors, accounting for 10% of the country’s GDP.
The ongoing increase in tourist arrivals significantly contributes to the car rental industry, particularly since road transport is the primary mode of travel in Iceland, which lacks a railway system. The peak tourist season, similar to Croatia, is from June to August, with another surge in December leading up to Christmas.
Iceland, home to approximately 360,000 residents, is geographically well-positioned as a layover point on flights between London and New York or Boston, allowing airlines to refuel halfway and reduce weight compared to starting with a full fuel tank for the entire journey. The busiest international airport is Keflavík.
